New Bradwell Ward By-Election on Thursday 24 September 2026
Following the death of Councillor Shanika Mahendran on 1 July, a valid request for a by-election in New Bradwell Ward has been received.
The by-election will take place on Thursday 24 September. A full timetable is available here.

Formal Notice of Casual Vacancy for New Bradwell Ward
The Notice of Election will be published on Wednesday 19 August.
Nominations
Nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the Returning Officer, Civic Offices, 1 Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ, between 10am and 4pm on any working day from Wednesday 19 August to Thursday 27 August.

Voting in the by-election – Voter ID

Registration
The deadline to register to vote in this election is midnight on Tuesday 8 September. If you have already registered to vote, you will be sent a poll card towards the end of August. If you are unsure if you are registered to vote you can call Milton Keynes City Council on 01908 254706 to check.
Registering to vote is simple and takes less than 5 minutes. You’ll need your National Insurance number.
Postal Voting Dates
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 9 September.

Proxy Voting Dates
The deadline to apply to appoint a proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 16 September. The person you appoint as a proxy will need to go to your allocated polling station to vote or apply for a postal vote before the postal vote deadline (see above).

Voter Authority Certificate Dates
The final deadline to apply for a voter authority certificate is 5.00pm on Wednesday 16 September.
