Standards Committee
Milton Keynes City Council is seeking to appoint a co-opted parish representative to join its Standards Committee. The Standards Committee seeks to promote and maintain high standards of conduct for elected members in Milton Keynes, and parish representatives play a key role in helping the Committee to understand the issues faced by Parish, Town and Community Councils. You may also be requested to join (in a non-voting capacity) any sub-committees to hear complaints about Parish Councillors.
The Council currently has two serving parish representatives on the Standards Committee (Parish Councillors Pryor and Winsor) and are seeking to appoint a third. We would be particularly keen to hear from parish councillors who represent more urban areas of the City.
Standards Committee usually meets 4 times a year in the evening, with the possibility of occasional special meetings or working groups appointed by the Committee. There is a requirement in between meetings to read agendas and related papers.
Parish representatives receive a modest fixed annual allowance (£720 per annum) and travelling and subsistence expenses will be paid for Standards Committee commitments.
More information can be found in the recruitment pack and the application form is available here:
