Do you Love Exploring? If so, a free to play smartphone App is available across Milton Keynes to encourage all residents and visitors to get active and explore the parks, Redways and trails across Milton Keynes. The App has games, trails and and an interactive map full of useful information and locations. Watch the Love Exploring Mega Mini Beasts story below. Love Exploring uses ‘augmented reality’ graphics that display on smartphones as you walk around. Thousands of individuals, families and children have taken to local parks and streets to use the App, exploring the game and trails since its launch in October 2021. The Milton Keynes version of the free App has been developed by MKCC and Love Exploring. Games include: Dinosaur Safari Space Walk Tree Fairies Mega Mini-Beasts Butterflies and Moths Spooky Halloween trails The AR games are suitable for all ages. The app has loads of games across different locations in MK and uses the parks and trails to discover new places and interesting things about the content of the games. Interactive map The map section has details of hundreds of resources and items of interest across MK. This includes libraries, leisure centres, Community fridges, Childrens Centres, heritage sites, sculptures, and much more. Guided trail routes As well as the games, there are guided trails around Milton Keynes that vary from Mindfulness, to street art and Tree identification. Take a guided mindfulness walk or discover the sculptures & trees of Campbell Park, visit Bradwell Abbey and the Bancroft Roman Villa and lots of other places around Milton Keynes on this growing collection of guided trails. All Milton Keynes Primary school pupils and their families are invited to take part in the FREE School Explorers competition using the Love Exploring App. Take your family on a dinosaur safari or hunt the mega mini beasts this summer! There lots of games and trails to choose from across MK parks so don’t miss out! Earn points for your school: 1 point for every 100m walked in the games or trails 3 points for a correct quiz answer 1 point for an incorrect quiz answer The more your play - the more points you earn for your school to keep them at the top of the leader board! Why? This is an opportunity for families to have some fun and get active over the summer break by exploring MK's Parks and learn a few fun facts along the way. When? The competition is played over the summer holidays between 22nd July to 4th September. Get involved? To play Parents/ Caregivers just need to download the FREE Love Exploring app to their mobile device and sign up. Then just link your user account to your child's Primary School and earn points when you play. Its easy to link your user account to your Childs primary school: In the app select the menu icon in the top right-hand corner Choose ‘school explorers’ Choose ‘link to my account’ Choose Milton Keynes and then the name of your Primary School Simply download the Love Exploring app on your smartphone, select a local park or visitor attraction and scan away using the camera on your device. Available on App Store Available on Google Store Need help to use the app? Go to your mobile phone app provider e.g. the App Store or Google Play. Search for ‘Love Exploring’ and download the app to your smartphone. Open the app and select Milton Keynes; it will show the available games and trails. Identify the location of the game or trail that you wish to complete. Visit the park and open the app, selecting the game or trail for that location. The Love Exploring app uses Augmented Reality and so unfortunately it won’t work on all/older mobile phones.
