Princes Way and Saxon Street Improvements

We will be improving both Saxon Street and Princes Way in Bletchley as part of the wider New Town Deal scheme which has invested £22.7m into a series of projects along with additional funding from key partners such as the Council, the Parks Trust, East West Rail and MK College.

Princes Way

As part of the wider Transport Hub (Saxon Street) improvements, work will begin on 23 March to install three new signalised pedestrian crossings on Princes Way and Albert Street in Bletchley.

The new crossings will make it easier and safer for local people to travel between the train and bus stations, and the town centre.

To carry out the work, Princes Way will be closed to traffic between Saxon Street and Dukes Drive until late June.

The traffic management plans for this scheme may be viewed here

Any bus diversions will be listed on the Bus Service Closures and Diversions page.

Transport Hub (Saxon Street)

The Transport Hub (Saxon Street) project will bring major improvements to space surrounding the bus and rail stations, aligned with wider work on Queensway to upgrade public spaces, improve safety, and make the area more welcoming.

This will include:

  • Reducing Saxon Street to a single carriageway
  • Creating new Redway links to join the wider network and encourage sustainable travel.
  • Enhancing the bus station
  • Improving connections between the town centre and transport hubs
  • Allowing for a potential future eastern entrance to the railway station

Details about this scheme may be found on the New Town Deal website
