Supporting information on the Allocations Scheme

Is the Housing Register the correct application for me?

An application to the housing register is essentially applying for a waiting list, we assess applications in date order and then allocate properties in banding priority and date order. If you are at risk of homelessness, please find further information and advice through our Housing Solutions team.

My application was assessed as ‘No Housing Need’ but there has been a change in my circumstances, can I request a review of the No Need decisions?

Due to the change in circumstances, a review is not the correct path, and you would need to create a new application to reflect your current circumstances.

What if I move home before you make me an offer of accommodation?

You will need to update on an any changes of circumstance. It's likely we will close the current application if you have resolved your own housing need.

Can I bid on properties?

We do not use a Choice Based Letting scheme, so you are unable to bid on properties.

Can you put me on waiting list for housing associations too?

If your application is accepted onto the housing register, you could be offered either a Milton Keynes City Council Property or a Housing Association property. We are unable to offer a preference and the offer of accommodation will depend on what property is next available that is considered suitable to meet your households needs.

My application is Live on the housing register, but my Allocations Officer hasn’t contacted me in a while?

Once an officer has completed the assessment of your application, they are no longer an allocated officer to your application. To allow us to process the high demand for Housing applications the officers are only allocated cases whilst they are assessing.

Once your application is Live, we will not contact again unless we need further information, or you are next to receive an offer of accommodation.

How long will I wait for an offer of accommodation?

Our information about the housing allocation scheme page contains more information on this.

Why haven’t I heard anything since I applied?

We assess applications in date order and the amount of time this takes varies depending on the number of applications we receive. There is a high demand for Social Housing in Milton Keynes, and this is reflected in the number of applications we receive. You can see your application within your Housing Online account in the ‘My Saved and Submitted’ tile if it is still waiting to be looked at. Once we have checked the documents are correct it will move to the ‘My Verified applications’ tile to await an assessment.
