City Council expands popular service that helps residents with laundry

Milton Keynes City Council is expanding its popular laundry service to support more residents, including those under 65 who have a care need.

Previously focused on older residents, the service is now available to people of any age who are receiving support from adult social care. The move will help more people stay independent at home, particularly those recovering from illness or managing long-term health conditions.

The City Council’s friendly laundry team already supports people across Milton Keynes, including rural communities, by collecting, cleaning and returning laundry directly to residents’ homes.

The service offers flexible options, including one-off collections, weekly services and specialist support for those with additional needs.  Residents can have clothing, bedding and larger items like blankets and duvets cleaned and returned within a week.

The service is available at a competitive cost, with standard laundry bags priced at under £20.

Residents who think they could benefit, or who care for someone who might, are encouraged to get in touch with the team via laundry@miltonkeynes.gov.uk or speak to their social worker.

“This is a really practical service that can make a big difference to people’s day-to-day lives. By opening this up to more residents, we’re helping more people stay independent and comfortable at home. If you think you or someone you know could benefit, please do get in touch - our friendly team is here to help.”
- Councillor Donna Fuller, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health, Community and Housing
