The 16-19 careers information advice and guidance team

The 16-19 careers information advice and guidance team offer a free and confidential service for young people in Milton Keynes aged 16-19 (up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities) who are not in employment, education, or training.

We offer free and impartial advice and can support you with:

  • Education and training courses
  • Traineeships and Apprenticeships
  • Looking for and applying for jobs
  • CV writing
  • Interview Skills
  • Information on local provision

 

Young people we support

We can offer support if you are:

  • not in education, training or employment
  • currently in education and are identified by school or college as being at risk of not continuing in education, training or employment
  • in care - we offer targeted one-to-one careers advice and guidance support up to the age of 18 while in the care of MK City Council
  • leaving care - we support care leavers aged 16-24 who have been in the care of MK City Council
  • working with Milton Keynes Youth Offending Team and are not in education, employment or training
  • a young person up to age 25 with learning difficulties or learning disabilities with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP)

One to one careers information, advice and guidance support

These meetings are for young people aged 16-19 years (25 with an EHCP or leaving care) and are currently not in education, training or employment. Please contact us and a member of the team will get back to you.

Wellbeing and life skills programme

Are you aged 16-19 (25 with an EHCP) and currently looking to support your well-being, build confidence and upskill in preparation for employment, education or training? Then this short group course at the Christ the Cornerstone Church might just be the one for you! 

We cover general themes like:

  • Mindfulness 
  • Self care
  • Creativity 
  • Confidence building
  • Healthy lifestyles 
  • Budgeting
  • Next steps

Ready Set Go

Our programmes for young people are for anyone aged 16-19 years (or up to 25 for those with an EHCP). They are aimed at increasing confidence and communication levels and to help prepare you for future pathways into learning or employment.

Any young person not in education, employment or training is welcome to join the small and very welcoming group. We also offer Maths and English for young people. Bus passes and lunch will be provided.

Self Care Café - drop in session

Cafés are held every Wednesday 11am to 12pm at Christ the Cornerstone Church.

If you're aged 16-19 (or up to 25 with an EHCP), not in education or work and currently looking to take time for self-care and build on your confidence, then these sessions will be just right. Join us for our free weekly informal group.

Sessions are participant led and can include mindful and creative activities.
