Proposed alterations to the speed limit restrictions on Forest Road:

The effect of the above proposed Order will be to extend the existing 30mph speed limit restriction and introduce a 40mph speed limit restriction along the following lengths of Forest Road in Hanslope:

30mph Speed Limit Restriction

From its junction with Hartwell Road, for a distance of 249 metres in a north-easterly direction.

40mph Speed Limit Restriction

From a point 249 metres north-east of its junction with Hartwell Road, for a distance of 483 metres in a north-easterly direction.

The proposed alterations to the speed limits on Forest Road come as a result of the agreed section 278 works for the new Hanslope housing development by Davidson Developments.

As the Highway Authority for Forest Road in Hanslope, Milton Keynes Council is satisfied that the alterations to the speed limit restrictions will encourage the convenient and safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Proposed traffic calming features:

The effect of the Section 90 Statutory Notification will be to inform the general public that the Council proposes proposes under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 to construct traffic calming measures consisting of two raised table humps along parts of Forest Road in Hanslope.

The central positions of the proposed traffic calming features will be as follows:

Location on Forest Road, Hanslope Height Width Length
73 metres north-east of its junction with Hartwell Road 65mm 5.3m 8m
141 metres north-east of its junction with Hartwell Road 65mm 5.3m 8m

Both raised speed tables will extend across the full width of the carriageway

The raised tables will be constructed of bituminous material or similar.

The Council's reason for introducing the above traffic calming comes as a result of the agreed section 278 works for the new Hanslope housing development by Davidson Developments and will support the alterations to the speed limit restrictions on Forest Road, Hanslope.

The introduction of the traffic calming measures will help to reduce vehicular speeds along those parts of Forest Road, which will encourage and facilitate safe pedestrian and cyclist movements.

The Council is now serving formal notification on the proposed raised traffic calming features and copies of the statement of reason and plans showing the location of the features may be inspected on the links below:
