Planning a street party? A street party or local event is a non-commercial event organised by residents for residents and neighbours only. These are only permitted to take place on residential streets and not through roads so they do not affect the wider road network. Permits to work on the highways Before carrying out any work on the highway, you must apply for a permit and have approval from the Streetworks team. Highways licences and application forms If you are carrying out work on or close to our highway network you may need to apply for a licence first. You will find all the information about each type of licence, how to apply and any fees here. Table & Chairs on the Highway Any business that wants to place tables, chairs or other temporary furniture onto the highway (footways/pavement/verge) will need to apply first for a Table and Chairs Licence. Builders' Skips on the Highway If you want to place a skip on the public highway you will need to apply for permission first.
