Works will start on Queensway, Bletchley from Monday 27 October 2025.
The construction phase is being project managed by the Council's Highways team and will include:
- Creating a one-way system along Queensway from Albert Street to Princes Way
- Building a two-way cycle path along Queensway from Albert Street to Princes Way
- Tackling issues with footway parking with new planters and bollards
- Providing designated disabled parking bays
- Improving road safety by constructing raised table crossings on Queensway and all side streets
- New drainage system to be installed to reduce surface water
- Planting new trees and a mix of ground level beds and raised planters to enrich biodiversity.
- New street furniture and creating space for outdoor seating in front of cafes and restaurants.
- Improved street lighting
- Better signage an wayfinding
- New secure cycle stands
The work will take place in phases starting with Elizabeth Square. During this time the car park between Cambridge Street and Lennox Road will be closed to all vehicles.
