Application charges

• Building Control Charges applicable FROM 1 AUGUST 2026 (including VAT).

Payment

Please do not send payments to the Planning Department — Planning and Building Control are separate services.

To avoid delays/cancellation, payment must be made within 28 calendar days of submitting your application.

On application submission, clearly specify who will be making the payment. Once we receive all required documentation, we will review your submission, may request any additional information, calculate the fee, and send an acknowledgement email with payment instructions.

How to pay:

• Phone: Call us securely on 01908 252721 to make a payment.
• Payment link: To receive a secure payment link, please provide 1) the payer’s full name 2) the email address registered with Milton Keynes City Council.
• Other methods: Call 01908 252721 for guidance. Please note: We do not accept cash or cheques.

Your application becomes valid once payment and all required information is received. Once valid, you’ll be able to book inspections.

If you have started work without making a payment (or on an invalid application), please email us with:

1. Your Building Control reference number.
2. Site location.
3. The Start date.
4. Details of work carried out.

Applications for work solely required for disabled persons

Building work carried out solely to provide access and/or facilities for a disabled person in an existing domestic dwelling may be exempt from Building Control charges. Where the work includes additional elements that do not relate directly to the disability adaptation, charges may still apply. If you are unsure whether your project qualifies for an exemption, please contact us for advice.
