Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document

The Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was adopted by Milton Keynes Council on 31 January 2023. The adopted SPD is available at the link below and details regarding the consultation on the draft document and the responses received during the consultation are outlined on this page. Also available is the Equalities Impact Assessment and evidence base documents that have supported preparation of the SPD.

The adoption of the SPD provides further information about implementation of Policies CT6 and CT10 in our Local Plan, Plan:MK (2019).   

 

Revocation of Parking Standards SPD 2016 

At a delegated decision meeting on Tuesday 31 January 2023, Councillor Peter Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, and relevant cabinet member for Planning and Placemaking, in accordance with Regulation 15 (2) of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, revoked the following Supplementary Planning Document (SPD): 

  • Parking Standards SPD (January 2016) 

In accordance with The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, the Council is ceasing to make this withdrawn SPD document available. 

This SPD document was revoked by the Council because: 

  • It does not reflect the latest available evidence and best practice guidance on parking standards and transport policy in Milton Keynes.

Draft Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) 2022 

Milton Keynes Council consulted on a Draft Parking Standards SPD for a period of eight weeks, between Wednesday 10 August 2022 until Wednesday 05 October 2022. 

Following the consultation period, all comments received were taken into consideration by the Council in finalising the SPD for adoption. 

A copy of the Draft Parking Standards SPD (1) which was consulted on, can be viewed below, alongside a copy of the associated SEA Screening Statement (2) and a document which outlines all comments received during the consultation and an associated Officer response (3).
