Our assets include all the roads, redways, signs, street lights and other infrastructure.

We set standards, intervention and service levels within our Codes of Practice for all areas of highways. We also have policies for activities on the highway such as festive lights and events.

The Department for Transport now requires all local highway authorities to publish annual highway maintenance reports. The initiative improves transparency, supports national benchmarking, promotes best practice, encourages innovation and helps deliver more efficient highway services.
