The Children's Library at Central Library will close at 11am on Saturday 14 October while we host MK Lit Fest children's author events.
Parental consent for Under 16s at libraries
The Milton Keynes City Council libraries make every effort to prevent access to inappropriate material. Despite doing our best, we cannot have complete control over the information on the Internet. This is the same as with other sources like television and some sites will be unsuitable for children and young people.
- Children and young people under the age of 16 are allowed access to the computers in our libraries with consent.
- A parent or legal guardian should sign an Internet consent form at one of the Milton Keynes City Council libraries in the presence of library staff.
- By signing the consent form parents or guardians agree to accept responsibility for monitoring materials accessed on the Internet by their children.
- In order to access the IT facilities, children and young people under the age of 16 must be registered library borrowers.
- Their library cards will be endorsed to show that they have parental consent to use the Internet.
If your child is not yet a member, find out more about joining the library - there is no age limit and it's free.
Staying Safe
Please remind your child to be wary of strangers online. They should never reveal personal information either by email, messaging or chat rooms.
